In Match 44 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights, West Indies delivered a dominant performance to outclass Zimbabwe by 107 runs. The Windies scored one of the biggest totals of the tournament (254/6) when they batted first. They lost two early wickets but gained control of the game with aggressive batting and solid partnerships. Despite continued scoring by West Indies’ players, Zimbabwe's bowlers were unable to stop the flow of runs due to the conditions being in favour of the West Indians.

Shimron Hetmyer led the attack by scoring an incredible 85 runs off 34 balls (7 fours and 7 sixes) at a very high strike rate. Rovman Powell contributed with a solid 59, while Sharfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd finished the innings off well by making an excellent score in the last few overs. Even though Richard Ngarava and Blessings Muzarabani Bowie both took two wickets each, they could not prevent the Windies from scoring runs. The West Indies scored 55 runs during the powerplay and maintained an impressive run rate of 12.7, putting Zimbabwe under pressure going into their innings.

In response, Zimbabwe faltered under pressure while pursuing 255. Akeal Hosein struck crucial blows early, and Gudakesh Motie’s four-wicket spell dismantled the middle order. Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza offered brief resistance, but regular setbacks prevented any meaningful recovery. Zimbabwe were eventually dismissed for 147 in 17.4 overs. The comprehensive win significantly improved West Indies’ net run rate and strengthened their semifinal prospects, while Zimbabwe were handed a harsh reminder of the challenge posed by elite opposition in the Super Eights stage.
