Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fell short of expectations in the 2025 edition of the IPL. The Pat Cummins-led side possessed an explosive batting side and a potent bowling lineup. But they struggled with team composition, placing sixth in the points table.

The team will seek to fill some of the gaps that were problematic last season.  They have INR 25.50 crore remaining in the bank and will undoubtedly look at some of the prominent names in the auction. That said, here are the top three players to target for the SRH in the mini auction.

1. David Miller

South African batter, David Miller could be a potential addition to the Orange Army side given his power-hitting skills and ability to anchor the innings in pivotal moments of the game. SRH need a genuine middle-order hitter, particularly at No. 5 or 6, and Miller appears to fill the gap, offering experience, finishing skills, and the ability to expedite scoring in the death overs.

Last season, Hyderabad failed to finish games, so it is not surprising that they will sign someone like Miller, who can establish a deadly tandem with Klassen, something that SRH would undoubtedly appreciate. Miller has scored 3077 runs at an impressive average of 37 in 141 IPL matches. 

2. Maheesh Theekshana

SRH has always had a tough time with their spinmeister's options. After the release of their vital spinner, Rashid Khan, the team wasn't able to obtain the right spinner for the long term. In the forthcoming auction, the team should try to obtain the services of Maheesh Theekshana.

After a bleak previous season, Theekshana can make a solid comeback through a new franchise and can be considered for a long-term spin option. With experience gained from playing many matches, he can be the viable spinner that the team has been waiting for. In 38 games, he has scalped 36 wickets at a decent economy of over eight.

3. Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma, an Indian spinner and all-rounder, was released by the Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2026 auction. He played admirably for them last year, taking seven wickets in six games, and has extensive experience across multiple franchises. In fact, he won the IPL with SRH in 2016, and bringing him back would provide the team with a decent spin option, which it now lacks.

In addition, his ability to power hit in the lower middle order will help the already powerful batting lineup. Overall, he can be the all-rounder that the franchise has long desired. In 90 matches, he scored 351 runs and took 83 key wickets.
