Top 3 players to watch from Bangladesh ahead of Asia Cup 2025.

During the 2022 Men’s Asia Cup in the shortest format, Bangladesh featured in two group-stage games and lost both fixtures against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka by a significant margin. They couldn’t qualify for the Super Four stage of the competition, but they will now hope to turn the tables and deliver a better performance.

Bangladesh came into the Asia Cup 2025 with a 2-0 home T20I series victory over the Netherlands. In those games, they displayed fabulous batting and bowling performances, respectively. However, it could have been better had they played against a stronger side to polish their skills in a better way.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi before shifting their focus to the second encounter against Sri Lanka two days later at the same venue.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 players to watch from Bangladesh ahead of the Asia Cup 2025

3. Litton Das

The Bangladesh captain and the wicket-keeper batter, Litton Das, has been a crucial member of the shortest format. In the recently concluded T20I series against the Dutch side, the right-handed batter smacked 145 runs in three innings with two half-centuries at the best score of 73, thanks to two half-centuries.

Das has overall smacked 2437 runs in 108 innings at an average of around 24 and a strike rate of 126.46, thanks to 14 half-centuries at the best score of 83 runs. In all T20 formats, the veteran batter has bagged 5668 runs in 241 innings at an average of 24.75 and a strike rate of 127.48, notching 33 half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 125 runs.

In the 2024/25 BPL season, the wicket-keeper batter clubbed 368 runs in 11 innings for the DKA at an average of 36.80 and a strike rate of 143.19, with the help of two fifties and one century.

2. Mustafizur Rahman

The left-arm Bangladesh fast bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, has been a huge member of the Asian side in the shortest format. Especially during the death overs, Rahman has earned success using his variations and cutters with the ball, making it incredibly hard for the batters to play the big shots around the park.

In the home T20I series, he picked up four wickets to prove his incredible touch with the ball. In 112 innings of the shortest format, Rahman has bagged 142 wickets at an average of 20.84 and a strike rate of 17.1 and an economy rate of 7.30, thanks to three four-wicket hauls and a couple of five-wicket hauls.

Overall, in the 289 innings of the T20s for various franchises around the world, Mustafizur has grabbed 365 wickets in 289 innings at an average of 21.41 and a strike rate of 17.2 and an economy rate of 7.44, with the help of six four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls.

1. Taskin Ahmed

The 30-year-old Bangladesh fast bowler, Taskin Ahmed, can use the new ball and shine during the first six overs of the innings to get help off the surface and make inroads for the team. If he picks up wickets inside the power play, then it will be beneficial for the Bangladesh spinners to come stronger in the middle overs.

In 76 innings of the T20Is, Taskin has picked up 94 wickets at an average of under 22, a strike rate of 17.3, and an economy rate of 7.56, thanks to three four-wicket hauls at the best bowling figure of 4/16 in an inning. In the T20s, the right-arm pacer has overall bagged 242 wickets in 184 innings at an average of 21.27 and a strike rate of 16.2.

Taskin is expected to open the bowling for the Bangladesh side in the Asia Cup, and if he does well, then it will be easier for the other bowlers to hold up the middle overs of their bowling.
