Top 3 players to watch from Oman ahead of Asia Cup 2025.

Oman will come into the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates after a cold period in the shortest format. Their last T20I clash came in February, and since then, in the last six months, they haven’t played any game of the format, which could be a concern for the management and also the players to find the rhythm and pace of the T20Is.

Oman has picked up a strong squad under the leadership of Jatinder Singh, besides going with Amir Kaleem, the 43-year-old left-handed batter. Hammad Mirza will be doing the wicket-keeping job, while on the other hand, they have also picked a strong core in the bowling department.

Oman will start their campaign against Pakistan on September 12 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium before shifting to Abu Dhabi for the second clash against the United Arab Emirates two days later. Their last group-stage clash will be against India in Abu Dhabi on September 19.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 players to watch from Oman ahead of Asia Cup 2025

3. Jatinder Singh

The Punjab-born right-handed batter, Jatinder Singh, who is the leader of the Oman side, is the leading run-getter of the team in the shortest format. In 64 T20I innings, he has smashed 1399 runs at an average of 24.54 and a strike rate of 118.55, thanks to eight half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 73 runs.

In overall 77 innings of the shortest format, Jatinder has clubbed 1825 runs at an average of under 27 and a strike rate of 113.77, scoring 12 half-centuries at the best score of undefeated 73 runs. In the last T20I clash against the United States of America, he drilled two successive half-centuries and will hold a key figure for Oman.

2. Mohammed Nadeem

The right-arm pace all-rounder of the Oman side, Mohammed Nadeem, will be another important X-factor of the side. In 42 T20I innings with the bat, he smacked 641 runs at an average of just over 20 and a strike rate of 110.51 with two half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 77 runs. In the bowling department, he picked up 34 wickets at an economy rate of under eight.

In the overall 49 innings of the shortest format, Nadeem grabbed 722 runs at an average of 19 and a strike rate of 107.12, while on the bowling department, the right-arm fast bowler has bagged 38 wickets in 61 innings at an average of below 33 and an economy rate of 7.71.

He will bring balance to the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 squad with his dual role of batting in the middle order and bowling pace.

1. Shakeel Ahmed

The 37-year-old left-arm spinner, Shakeel Ahmed, has done a fine job with the ball in the middle overs of the innings. In 33 T20I innings, he has picked up 27 wickets at an average of under 29 and a strike rate of 25.3 with an economy rate of under seven at the best bowling figure of 3/24 in an innings.

In the ODIs, he has been a crucial member, having collected 39 wickets in 15 innings at an average of under 12, a strike rate of 21.7, and an economy rate of just three. In T20s, though, Shakeel’s job is to hold the runs in the middle overs.

In 46 innings of the T20s, Shakeel has collected 36 wickets at an average of over 30 and a strike rate of 25.80 with an economy rate of seven, which is phenomenal in his current generation of the game. If he can continue such a feat in the Men’s T20 Asia Cup, it will give Oman a good chance in the competition against the stronger sides.
