WPL 2025 Auction

1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be sealing the first spot of the post WPL-Auction arsenal creation. Even before the auction, the defending champions have got their way of availing the services of an experienced English batter, Danni Wyatt, in a trade deal with the UP Warriorz. Also, Raghvi Bist provides lower-order batting power.

At the same time, Prema Rawat is a suitable replacement for the injured Asha Sobhana, who may be touch and go for the tournament as she recovers from a knee ailment. To conclude, the side will be up with a well-balanced side, eagerly yearning to give their all to convert their second consecutive WPL title plan into reality.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru 2025 WPL Squad:

Smriti Mandhana (Captain), Sabbineni Meghana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Georgia Wareham, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Sobhana, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux, Ekta Bisht, Kate Cross, Kanika Ahuja, Danni Wyatt, Prema Rawat, Joshitha VJ, Raghvi Bist, Jagravi Pawar

2. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians would be one of the favourites post the 2025 WPL Auction. It not only gives the credit for retaining promising campaigners but also invests a significant amount in emerging talent like G Kamalini, a 16-year-old cricketer from Tamil Nadu who could be a game-changer for the side in the long run.

They have also tried to plug a possible injury hole by drafting in South Africa's Nadine de Klerk, who may have a significant role to play if Pooja Vastrakar doesn't recover from a long-standing back injury. Overall, it would be no surprise to find the inaugural edition champions being favourites for the 2025 WPL title.

Mumbai Indians 2025 WPL Squad:

Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Amanjot Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Hayley Matthews, Jintimani Kalita, Natalie Sciver, Pooja Vastrakar, Saika Ishaque, Yastika Bhatia, Shabnim Ismail, Amandeep Kaur, S. Sajan Sajana, Keerthana, Nadine de Klerk, G Kamalini, Sanskriti Gupta, Akshita Maheshwari

3. Gujarat Giants

Gujarat Giants have been the lowest-performing team in the previous two WPL seasons, finishing at the bottom of the points table each time. They bid the highest for Simran Shaikh, who recently scored 176 runs in 11 Senior Women's T20 Trophy games. Deandra Dottin, a Caribbean player, was another critical acquisition that would increase the team's experience level.

However, the team lacks a strong bowling attack. Meghna Singh and Priya Mishra have yet to show themselves and may not represent a significant threat to the opposition. Their reliance on international offences could be a big positive, but only the bowler's lineup could hinder their run.

Gujarat Giants 2025 WPL Squad:

Beth Mooney (Captain), Ashleigh Gardner, Dayalan Hemalatha, Harleen Deol, Laura Wolvaardt, Shabnam Shakil, Tanuja Kanwer, Phoebe Litchfield, Meghna Singh, Kashvee Gautam, Priya Mishra, Mannat Kashyap, Bharti Fulmali, Sayali Satghare, Deandra Dottin, Simran Shaikh, Danielle Gibson, Prakashika Naik

4. Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals batting lineup includes Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, and Jemimah Rodrigues. These guys are noted for their consistency in scoring runs, which will benefit the club. With Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey, and Arundhati Reddy, the team features an experienced bowling unit. With a well-balanced lineup, the Capitals finished first in the points table last season but failed to win the championship against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Sarah Bryce, a Scottish wicketkeeper batter, would be a significant addition to their squad, with the potential to take over as captain behind the wickets. The Capitals would be keen to continue their excellent run with a strong and balanced core with familiar faces.

Delhi Capitals 2025 WPL Squad:

Meg Lanning (Captain), Alice Capsey, Arundhati Reddy, Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Minnu Mani, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Shikha Pandey, Sneha Deepthi, Taniyaa Bhatia, Titas Sadhu, Annabel Sutherland, Nandini Kashyap, Sarah Bryce, N Charani, Niki Prasad

5. UP Warriorz

UP Warriorz has had unimpressive performances in the past two editions of the WPL. They finished fourth in the 2024 season, winning three of their eight outings. Warriorz boasts impeccably experienced batters like Alyssa Healy, Chamari Athapaththu and Grace Harris. The side's main disadvantage was a lack of effective fast-bowling alternatives. Aside from Tahlia McGrath, no Pacers can be called game-changers.

The Warriorz also failed to address the vacuum in the auction of a pacer, instead opting to bring spinner Alana King despite the existence of competent spinmeisters like Sophie Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

UP Warriorz 2025 WPL Squad:

Alyssa Healy (Captain), Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Kiran Navgire, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Shweta Sehrawat, Sophie Ecclestone, Tahlia McGrath, Vrinda Dinesh, Saima Thakor, Poonam Khemnar, Gouher Sultana, Chamari Athapaththu, Uma Chetry, Arushi Goel, Kranti Goud, Alana King
