The Gujarat Giants (GG) have carried out a comprehensive makeover ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction.  After a rocky history and a third-place playoff result in 2025, they opted to keep only their two top Australian players: Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney.  This leaves them with a hefty auction purse of INR 9 crore and the critical advantage of three Right-to-Match (RTM) cards.  

Their goal is straightforward: secure the foreign core, then utilise the large budget and RTM cards to build a high-quality Indian team from the ground up, with a focus on home batting depth and specialised bowling.  Here are the top three possible targets for the Gujarat Giants in the upcoming 2026 WPL tournament. 

Gujarat Giants Women's 2026 WPL Retained Players: Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney

1. Alyssa Healy

Alyssa Healy coming to this list would be a surprise for many, especially after having retained the likes of experienced Aussie campaigners like Asleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney. But, with the team targeting the WPL goal and adding more experience to the arsenal, the addition of an experienced wicketkeeper batter would, in return, favour them in a higher probability.

Also, with the robust overseas group, the Giants can act as a formidable threat to the competitors if they add in the likes of Healy's willow and glove skills. With her previous time with the UP Warriorz, she has made a colossal 428 runs in just 17 matches at a strike rate of over 130.

2. Harleen Deol

Harleen Deol was a reliable Indian performer for GG in 2025. Given her history with the franchise and ability to anchor the middle overs, GG should seriously consider using one of its RTM cards to re-sign her, possibly at a competitive price.

She provides a much-needed domestic batting backbone to complement the remaining overseas players. In her WPL career, she scored 482 runs in 20 games with an average of 30.18. 

3. Sneh Rana

Sneh Rana, the former vice-captain and key player for GG.  Given that GG has released all of its Indian players, the team requires an experienced domestic captain. Rana combines it with tight off-spin and good lower-order batting.

A proven Indian all-rounder and leadership prospect like Rana is a highly smart buyback decision that provides immediate stability. She has played 17 WPL matches and taken 12 wickets at an economy rate of more than eight runs.
