The T20 World Cup 2026 begins today, with all 20 teams aiming to make a strong start in the race for the title. The teams are divided into four groups, with five teams in each group.

India are the defending champions and are seen as one of the favourites to win the tournament again. However, the co-hosts will face tough competition from teams like Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand. India are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, the Netherlands, the USA, and Namibia.

Several smaller teams are also taking part in the tournament, including Oman, Italy, Nepal, Scotland, Canada, and the UAE. 3 Teams That Will Not Play in the T20 World Cup 2026

1. Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s exit is the biggest talking point ahead of the tournament. The Bangla Tigers were placed in Group C along with Italy, Nepal, West Indies, and Scotland. However, Bangladesh decided not to travel to India due to security concerns. As a result, they were removed from the tournament and replaced by Scotland. Bangladesh will not take part in the T20 World Cup 2026.

2. Uganda

Uganda are another team that will miss the T20 World Cup 2026 after playing in the 2024 edition. They were part of Group C in 2024 and managed to win one match against Papua New Guinea. However, they could not move ahead from a tough group that also included West Indies, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.

Uganda failed to qualify for the 2026 tournament despite getting a direct entry to the Africa regional final. They were knocked out in the group stage of that event.

3. Papua New Guinea (PNG)

Papua New Guinea, which team played alongside Uganda in the 2024 World Cup, are also not part of the 2026 edition. They did not win any match in that group, including a close loss to Uganda. PNG took part in the Asia-Pacific regional final but failed to qualify after being eliminated in the group stage.
