Mumbai Indians, the defending champions ahead of the 2026 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), started their mega auction, buying the New Zealand spinner, Amelia Kerr. They already retained five star members from the previous season of the event- including Nat Sciver Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur. They also had Hayley Matthews of the West Indies in the squad. Amelia Kerr was signed for a price of INR 1 core in the 2023 season of the league as he quickly breached INR 1.7 crore mark with both the franchises- Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz- going after the young spinner. Kerr’s skills of slowing down the ball in the middle overs are always a key for any team.
