Arshdeep Singh and Daryl Mitchell’s fight

New Zealand are generally known to be a friendly side in the cricket game, but a heated fighting moment took place during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium that saw two players going after each other before the home captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and the umpire had a word with both the players respectively.

It was the fifth delivery of the 11th over of the second innings when Arshdeep Singh went for a yorker as the batter, Daryl Mitchell, drilled it back to the pacer, who threw it back to the batter, who was hit on the knee. The Kiwi star was not happy with the process as he went after the bowler in a heated way with the bowler turning back to return to his mark.

The umpire had a word with Arshdeep before Suryakumar Yadav entered the theatre to calm down the New Zealand batter. It was a mistake from the pacer, who didn’t need to throw the ball, but mistakenly did and that took at the batter’s body.

The Kiwis didn’t make a great start with the bat as they kept losing wickets at the regular intervals. Their opening batter, Tim Seifert, smashed 52 runs in 26 balls with the help of five sixes and a pair of boundaries at a strike rate of 200 while the rest couldn’t do anything.
