Team India T20I skipper Surya Kumar Yadav was cool and composed during the ceremonial press conference ahead of the inaugural match of the Asia Cup 2025. India is the hot favorite to win the title in this year's campaign as well with their solidly built squad. Yadav was in the center of the stage as the captain of the defending champion side. He mostly talked about the team game and learnings from the past. Through this article, we will try to uphold some of the key statements made by the India skipper. There were some candid moments during the media interaction session as well.

Yadav was confident about their preparations and the bond between the players. He was asked whether to expect any changes in the strategy. Surya replied, "Abhi tak toh sab badiya chal rha hai toh bina matlab ke kyu ungli kare? Acha chal rha hai, wahi same cheez follow karte rahenge jo last jitne bilaterals m acha hua hai. (We will keep continuing the same things. If something is working, that means we are working in the right direction."

The captain was well aware of the potential of the team, but he chose to be close to the ground. He was pleased with the way the entire team prepared for the title race.

"Well, if your preparations are great, then you are certainly confident when you take the field. Yes, we are playing after quite a while, but we were here 3-4 days back. We had a good time as a team together. Really looking forward to this tournament," Surya responded to India being favorites of the tournament. 

Surya paid respect to the UAE cricket team

India is scheduled to play their first Asia Cup 2025 match tomorrow (September 10, 2025) against the United Arab Emirates (IND vs UAE). On pen and paper, India is way more ahead than their opponent. Surya did not think so; he showed his beliefs in on-field rivalry. 

"The UAE are playing some exciting brands of cricket. Recently they played a tri-series (vs PAK, vs AFG). He said (UAE captain), "His team couldn't cross the line in the last series, but I wish and I hope that his team does cross the line in the Asia Cup," he said.
