With back-to-back wins against the home team, the United Arab Emirates, and archrival Pakistan, India already secured their spot in the Super 4s of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Tomorrow (September 19, 2025), the Men in Blue will face Oman.

India is already into the round of four and, meanwhile, crashed out of the tournament, which makes the India vs Oman match a dead rubber or probably an opportunity for team India to do some experiments. For their third group phase game, the Surya Kumar Yadav-led team can make some changes in their playing XI. Keep the workload management in mind; chances are high to see Jasprit Bumrah on the bench for the match. So far, the defending champion has used Bumrah as the only full-time pacer in the playing XI, which has proved effective.

To preserve the ace bowler for the higher contests, the Indian team management can bench Bumrah against Oman and play either Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana. Conditions are favorable for Singh to start the upcoming match.

Possible changes India can make for Oman match

Gautam Gambhir and his assistants have high hopes around the pacer, which was reflected when they selected Arshdeep for the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy against England. For injury reasons, he was not able to play a single game in the contest. The Punjab-born is now fit and fine to play, and there are fair chances to see him on the field during match number 12 of the Asia Cup 2025.

Another thing India can do is to reshuffle the batting lineup. So far now, as India did not have to chase strong targets in their last two matches, their opening pair did most of the jobs to ease pressure from the middle order. Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, captain Surya Kumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube went to bat and scored runs for winning causes. But two prolific limited-over batters—Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya—are yet to bat in the tournament. If the management has the intention to try all of their batters, then they can provide opportunities for Samson and Pandya to bat by reshuffling the batting line-up against Oman.
