SA vs AUS

After a hiatus of eight years, South Africa are going to host Australia for a bilateral series, starting in September 2026. The last time Aussies were in South Africa was back in 2018. After that, they had a tour scheduled during COVID-19, but it was cancelled. Since then, they have never been to South Africa to play a bilateral series.

This year, they'll play a 3-match ODI and Test series, which will fall under the World Test Championship (WTC) and will also be a preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. Hence, both teams will gear up for the series. This is a good opportunity to check their playing XI, bench strength, and also gain some points in the WTC cycle.

Australia are already leading the points table with seven wins in eight games, followed by New Zealand in the second position and South Africa in the third. While the Kiwis have won two out of three games, the Proteas have been victorious in three out of four matches. South Africa have a solid Test team, especially the one that beat India in their own backyard.

This means that Australia will have to be extremely cautious as any mistake can take their seat away from them. Australia and South Africa met in the WTC final in 2025, with the latter being victorious. Hence, the upcoming series will surely be a tough one for both teams.

Australia's tour of South Africa schedule announced

The Aussies will travel to South Africa in September 2026 to play a 3-match ODI series, followed by a Test series. The tour begins from September 24 to 30, with matches in Durban, Johannesburg, and Potchefstroom. The Test series will be held in Cape Town, Durban, and Gqeberha.

Both series are equally important since the ICC events are coming up in 2027. Hence, the teams will look forward to giving their best. South Africa have a good chance of taking Australia's place in the points table if they manage to whitewash the series. The fans should keep an eye on the series since it's going to be contesting and thrilling.
