Babar Azam is now the second-fastest T20I cricketer to reach 3,000 runs, continuing his brilliance in the shortest format.

The Pakistan captain reached the milestone in his 81st T20I appearance on Friday, September 30 in Lahore, during the sixth T20I against England.

After Virat Kohli reached the mark against England in March of last year, Babar and Kohli now share the same total of innings played. In terms of being the fastest to reach 3,000 runs in all T20Is, both men’s and women’s cricket included, the two hold the top spot.

In addition, Babar became the fourth-highest run scorer in men’s T20Is, surpassing Paul Stirling of Ireland.He currently has 27 hundreds, 3035 runs scored, a strike rate of 130.09, and a strike rate of 43.98.Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, leads the overall list with 3694, followed by Virat Kohli (3663) and Martin Guptill (3497).

After being given the bat, Babar would eventually score an unbeaten 87* off 59 in Pakistan’s 169/6 first innings effort. On a day when no Pakistan batsman reached 31 runs, the innings, which included seven fours and three sixes, made a significant contribution. For England, David Willey and Sam Curran each took two wickets, and Richard Gleeson and Reece Topley returned 1/31 and 1/39 from their four-over spells, respectively.

Babar has scored 281 runs at 70.25 over six innings in the series, more than Mohammad Rizwan, his opening partner, (315).In Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory in the second T20I last week, the pair had added a record 203-run stand, with Babar scoring his second century in the format.

After winning a last-over thriller on Wednesday at the same location by six runs, Pakistan now holds a 3-2 lead in the seven-match series.
