On the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Bihar vs Arunachal Pradesh experienced many top records, and it ended with another record in List A cricket, as Bihar registered the second-largest win by runs in List A cricket history. 

Bihar won by 397 runs

After Bihar chose to bat first, they set a record-breaking List A total 574/6 in 50 overs, thanks to three centuries, including Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 84-ball 190 runs. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for only 177 runs in 42.1 overs, as Bihar won by 397 runs.

Bihar bowlers completely controlled after batters stormed entire innings

Vaibhav himself set some top records, including scoring a 36-ball century and recording the fastest List A 150 runs in 59 balls. The youngest List A centurion closely missed the fastest List A double century. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Loharuka scored 116 off 56 balls, and captain Sakibul Gani scored 128 not out off just 40 balls. Skipper Sakibul completed his century in just 32 balls to record the fastest List A century by an Indian and the third fastest List A century. 

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh openers set a 49-run partnership, while four batters managed to score the 20-run mark, with the best knock of 32 by captain Kamsha Yangfo, who was the only batter to reach the 30-run mark in that innings.

Among Bihar bowlers, Akash Raj (3/29) and Suraj Kashyap (3/31) got three wickets each, while Himanshu Tiwari (2/33) picked up two wickets, and Shabbir Khan (1/28) had one wicket. 

While Bihar won by 397 runs, it was the second-largest victory margin by runs in List A cricket history. Tamil Nadu hold the record for the largest victory margin by runs in List A cricket history, when they won by 435 runs against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022. It was the same match, where Tamil Nadu became the first team to score 500+ runs in List A cricket history, as they scored 506/2 in 50 overs.
