The former Indian batter, Cheteshwar Pujara, took a dig at the former England captain, Michael Vaughan, over their predictions on the third Test of the five-match series against England at Lord’s. Both teams came into the game after the visitors leveled the series at 1-1, thanks to their 336-run victory, having faced a shocking defeat at Leeds in the opening contest.

Vaughan, after the 22-run victory of the home side, sent a picture of the tweet where Pujara tweeted that even though the former England batter had been a great admirer in the studio, it would be hard for him to say the same prediction, which perhaps was around an England victory this week.

‘Must confess I admire your insights in the studio, but can’t say the same for your predictions.’ wrote Pujara on his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) to which Vaughan replied a week later after Ben Stokes-led side’s victory that ‘How is my prediction looking now @cheteshwar1 #ENGvIND.’

The third Test match didn’t go India’s way at all. The home side finished on 387 runs on the board in the first innings, thanks to Joe Root celebrating a fine century, while Jasprit Bumrah put his name on the honors board thanks to the five-wicket haul. But, there was no difference even after three days, as the visiting side also ended with the same score.

In the second innings of the home side, they got bundled out for 192 runs as Root again smashed a fine knock of 40 runs. Stokes did his job of staying for a long period for his 33 runs. The visitors gave away 32 runs on a bye, and that ended up biting them hard in the clash.

The Shubman Gill-led side never made a good start in the fourth-innings chase, losing four wickets in the evening session. Later, it was Ravindra Jadeja who kept the hopes alive of India and their fans till the end. The tailenders hang around a bit, but Mohammed Siraj’s unlucky dismissal brought the end in the game for the tourists on the wrong side of the coin by 22 runs.
