Dinesh Karthik put a focus on the harsh part of a cricketer's career. The former India wicketkeeper-batsman, in a recent conversation, reflected on the contradictory retirements of him and former England international Nasser Hussain. There were similarities between Karthik's last international match and Hussain's last international match—they both played their last game at the iconic Lord's cricket ground.

In a podcast arranged by Sky Sports, Karthik was with Ravi Shastri, Hussain, and Michael Atherton. In the presence of Shastri, the former head of Team India, who was in charge of the team during Karthik's last India match. The 40-year-old former cricketer recalled how Shastri was sent off after a Test match in Lord's.

"There's not much similarity between me and Nas (Hussain), and I want to keep it that way. But sadly his career ended at Lord's, and so did mine. The only difference is that Nas went to the coach's door and said, 'I think my time is over.' In my case, the coach came and said, "Don't come for the next test; your time is over." Karthik said in a Sky Sports podcast.

Dinesh Karthik put, Rishabh Pant in

Karthik's last assignment performance with the Blue Brigade was underwhelming. Karthik returned to Test cricket in June 2018 to replace an injured Wriddhiman Saha. Karthik's England tour was far away from his best. He scored 0 and 20 runs at Edgbaston and 1 and 0 runs at Lord's. Then the Indian team management decided to include Rishabh Pant in the team.

Pant's keeping was a little bit disappointing at that time, but his batting skills were above the expectation level. In four innings, the southpaw went on to score 342 runs in four innings under tough conditions.
