After an action-packed first session of Day 4, a wicketless 2nd and 3rd session mostly due to brilliant batting by KL Rahul and India captain Shubman Gill. After losing two wickets in two consecutive deliveries of England pacer Chris Woakes, Rahul and Gill stood strong on the wicket of Old Trafford, Manchester.

It is a must-win match for the visiting side after losing the 3rd Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, which allowed the home side to gain a 2-1 lead. In reply to India's 358, England posted 669 in the first innings and secured a healthy lead. Batting maestro Joe Root and skipper Joe Root got hundred-plus innings for England in the first innings.

If India, at least, wants to secure a draw, then they have to secure their wickets first. After the stumps of Day 4, Rahul and Gill remained strong in the middle. The touring team needs to score more than 137 to level England's first innings total.
