IPL 2025 is over; now the focus has started to shift from franchise cricket tournaments to the international stage. As per the calendar, Team India is set to travel to England (ENG vs IND) for a highly anticipated 5-match Test series. Prior to that, newly appointed captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir are set to conduct a press conference today at 7:30 PM.

India A team is already in England for preparations and played a practice match against England Lions already, where Karun Nair scored a double century and other top batters like India Team captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfaraz Khan got half-centuries.

Among the bowlers, Mukesh Kumar looked promising after claiming multiple scalps in the unofficial test against England Lions. The Test series against England will mark a new circle of the World Test Championship (WTC) and will mark a new era of Indian Test cricket without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who announced their retirements from the longest format of the game.

A new era in Test cricket 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a huge step by appointing Gill as the successor of Rohit Sharma; he has to accomplish a huge task with immense pressure on his shoulders. The series against England will also be an important assignment for head coach Gautam Gambhir as well, especially after they suffered the humiliation against New Zealand at home and against Australia in an away series during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 

India's recent lackluster performance in the Test format has become a talking point among the cricket fans, and the team needs to change their momentum in the format to justify their status. Needless to say, Gill and Gambhir will face multiple questions ahead of the Test series in today's press conference.
