England has made a bold decision to drop their best bowlers in James Anderson and Stuart Broad. They are going into the upcoming series with a completely new side, and below is a preview of some of the players.

Saqib Mahmood

Saqib Mahmood is a 24-year-old fast bowler who plays for Lancashire. He is capable of touching the 90 mile per hour mark and could have easily made the Ashes squad if groomed a little early. Mahmood has already played white-ball cricket for England, and was a touch expensive, but he can be very useful when he finds his rhythm.

Alex Lees

Lees is from Durham and has been a part of the county set-up for a while. He was part of the county championship winning sides in2014 and 2015, while also gaining limited-overs captaincy. He is a regular on A tours and has recently been among the runs after facing a slump few years ago. England are struggling to find an opener, and the left-handedly Lees seems like the next in line to be given a shot.

Matthew Fisher

The Tall pace bowler from Yorkshire is finally getting a go. Fisher made his debut seven years ago but injuries have hampered him, allowing him to show his talent only 21 times in domestic cricket. When in the team though, Fisher has found his rhythm quickly and can look very devastating with ease. His height and bounce can make help him fit into the big shoes of Stuart Broad.

Matt Parkinson

Leg-spinner, Matt Parkinson, has been a part of the England set-up for a while now. He was almost on the team during the Ashes but didn’t play as the side chose Leach and Bess ahead of him, while Joe Root took up extra bowling duties. Parkinson did spend a lot of time travelling though. He went on tours with the England Lions and played the PSL. He is an old fashioned leggie, but could be in for a challenge as spinners generally don’t go well in the Caribbean.

Ben Foakes

Ben Foakes is the biggest name on this list, and has been around for a while. Despite all the fame around him, the wicket-keeper has only managed eight Tests. Through the eight Tests though, Ben Foakes has managed to win a man of the series award in Sri Lanka. He is easily one of the best wicket-keepers in England, but couldn’t make it to the Ashes due to a hamstring injury. With Buttler and Billings out of the side, Foakes will get a fair run for England and will hope to make it count.
