There was anticipation for a close contest between India and Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo during the T20 World Cup 2026 as both teams came with their unbeaten tag, having beaten both associate nations. But the clash was heated, given the several controversies that had gone through in the last couple of weeks, with the Pakistan government asking to boycott the clash.

India posted a massive score of 175 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ishan Kishan clubbed a fine knock of 77 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 192.50 with the help of 10 boundaries and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav got 32 runs in 29 balls while Shivam Dube contributed 27 runs in 17 balls.

Pakistan went through a very funny batting approach as they kept on making the same mistake time and time again and ended up getting bundled out for 114 runs. Only two batters from their top seven got into the double figures, with Usman Khan being the leading run-getter individually with 44 runs.

Pakistan face T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 qualification challenge

Pakistan, due to the massive defeat, has dropped down to the United States of America in the points table in terms of the net run rate, which means they will have to beat the Namibia side for their qualification in the Super 8 stage of the competition.

Brief Scores: India 175/7 (Ishan Kishan 77, Suryakumar Kumar 32, Saim Ayub 3/25) beat Pakistan 114 (Usman Khan 44, Hardik Pandya 2/16) by 61 runs.
