India had to wait a lot after winning the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership. After that, it was Rohit Sharma who broke the jinx by winning the T20I World Cup in 2024. Sharma's batting can be described through the numbers he produced throughout his career.

But the mindset as a captain he possessed can be described only by Rohit himself. In a recent conversation, the experienced batter revealed his mindset when we used to lead a team.

The current captain of Team India in the ODI format said that it was all about the mindset and execution—never think about taking revenge, but learn from the past results and do better in the present. Rohit advised controlling all emotions, especially the anger that tries to come out during a match. To achieve a bigger success, the captain advises targeting small things, small battles against the bowlers first, and then gradually one can achieve the ultimate target, no matter if it is a final or a World Cup match.

Here's the mantra from captain Rohit Sharma

"When the game starts, it is all about how you can do your best. How to win those small battles against bowlers. Whenever I bat, I don't think of a target. Sometimes when we put out targets and underachieve, I go and bat to assess that situation. If you feel like taking it on, then go ahead when playing these kinds of games. Whether it is the final or the World Cup, of course there are nerves. You want to play well, you want to perform; there will always be nervousness," that's the mantra of Captain Rohit Sharma

"But then it's very important also to control your emotions, and I know how to do it. I'm pretty sure the rest of the guys have their own ways of dealing with these kinds of things in their own way. No game is played thinking about what happened last time, so this time we should teach them. You want to come up against them; you want to do well. It'll never be what happened in the past. Anger stays inside everyone; that thing remains in the back of their minds. I feel I visualized a lot of things, but not everything happens. You'll always visualize nice things. You won't always accept what is going on in your mind."
