The group stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is concluding on Friday with the Australia vs Oman match. After this, the Super 8 round will begin on Saturday. On Sunday (22 February), India will also start its Super 8 campaign, and in their first match, it will face South Africa, the runner-up of the previous edition of the tournament, whom Team India defeated in the final. The upcoming match between these two teams will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now ICC reveals the match officials for this game.

On Friday, the ICC announced the match officials for the Super-8 round of the T20 World Cup 2026. A total of 16 umpires will feature in this round, selected from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires and the ICC Emerging Umpires Group. Meanwhile, 4 officials have been chosen to serve as match referees. The second phase of the tournament will begin with the match between the Group Y teams, New Zealand and Pakistan, to be played in Colombo. Rodney Tucker and Paul Reiffel have been selected as on-field umpires for this match, while Allahudien Paleker has been appointed as the TV umpire, and Sam Nogajski will serve as the fourth umpire.

Meanwhile, the first match of Super-8 Group X will be played between India and South Africa. The ICC has selected four umpires for this match, one of whom also officiated in the final played in 2024.

ICC picks Chris Gaffaney and Richard Kettleborough as on-field umpires for IND vs SA Super-8 clash

For the Super 8 match to be played between co-hosts India and South Africa, the ICC has selected the experienced duo of Chris Gaffaney and Richard Kettleborough as on-field umpires. Gaffaney had also umpired in the T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa two years ago. Apart from Gaffaney and Kettleborough, Alex Wharf has also been selected, who will serve as the third umpire. Meanwhile, the responsibility of the fourth umpire has been given to Chris Brown.

India's second match in Super-8 is against the West Indies, and once again Gaffney will be seen as the on-field umpire, with Wharf assisting him. This round will conclude with the match between India and Zimbabwe on March 1, in which Wharf and Kettleborough will serve as the on-field umpires.
