WTC Final 2025

The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final (WTC Final). Increasing the heat more, the official promo has been released, where we see multiple legends of the game like Mathew Hayden, Dale Steyn, and Shoaib Akhtar.

Australia and South Africa will face each other at Lord's for the ultimate battle in the longest format of cricket. Cricket governing bodies of both Australia and South Africa announced their power-packed squads already. But as the legends say, Test cricket is not only about power or speed.

The match will start on June 11. With neck-and-neck stats, Australia will walk into the field with the hope of extending their legacy in the event, and South Africa will try their best to conquer all barriers for a major ICC trophy.

Performances in numbers

According to stats, in the last five encounters, both teams have similar numbers, with a couple of wins for each and a draw. The last time Australia and South Africa collided, they concluded without any winner or loser— a draw at the end of the encounter. In 2022, the Aussies proved themselves better than the Proteas twice.

Before that, in 2018, South Africa defeated Australia twice by a huge margin. If we talk about the previous matches of teams, then SA was unbeaten in 5 matches and emerged as the better team against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. On the other hand, Australia in their last 5 contests had won 4, and one ended in a draw, which was against India.
