IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma ‘dismissed’ by Mitchell Starc twice in first four balls, survives as AUS don’t review

When Indian captain Rohit Sharma snatched the first ball from Mitchell Starc, the third India vs. Australia Test got off to a wild start in Indore. Australia filed an appeal, but it was denied. Steve Smith, Starc, and keeper Carey decided not to conduct a review after much deliberation.

It was an appeal to be immediately caught behind. As the ball passed the bat, there was a sound. Menon, the umpire, did not hear anything. The Ultra Edge features a spike. In the locker room, coach Mcdonald’s expression reflected the Australian team’s disappointment.

There was also appeal to the fourth first-over delivery. For LBW this time. Starc got the ball to swing in, and he beat the inside edge. When Rohit prodded forward, he was cut in half, and the ball hit the pad on its way there.

This time, there was no edge; however, Hawkeye pointed out that the ball had pitched on off-and-middle and would have struck off-stump. Australia would have caught Rohit, whose 120 is the only hundred of the Test series so far, within the first four balls of the Test match if they had reviewed it on either occasion.

Rohit, on the other hand, was out of luck, and Kuhnemann bowled him out for 12 runs in the sixth over

Australia would feel a little better because the opportunities they missed didn’t cost them much. India were 27-1, with Shubman Gill, replacement for vice-captain KL Rahul, on 12.

India chose to bat in Indore on Wednesday after winning the toss for the first time in the home series against Australia. Steve Smith is in charge of Australia in place of Pat Cummins, the regular captain, who has gone back to Sydney to be with his ailing mother.

Mitchell Starc returned from a finger injury to take Cummins’ place in the pace attack. Cameron Green, who was back to full fitness, took in for opener David Warner, who had returned home from the second test in New Delhi after breaking his elbow.

In the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, which consists of four matches, India leads 2-0 with victories in Nagpur and New Delhi within three days.
