The battle at this stage seems to be evenly poised, with India needing 10 wickets for victory while England needing 350 more runs in a minimum of 90 overs across all three sessions. While both results are on the cards, there is a high chance that the game could be hampered by rain, and we could be heading towards a draw if that were to materialize.

As per the latest reports, the weather at Leeds is very overcast. The city has received some overnight rain which has made the pitch pretty damn. Besides, there were also reports of minor drizzles early morning. However, that has quickly subsided, and the players are going about their routine warm-up drills. Although the rain threat does not appear to be a big threat, the pitch as well as the square continues to remain under covers.

See also: WATCH: Sunil Gavaskar asking for backflip celebration from Rishabh Pant after twin century in ENG vs IND 1st Test

Here is what the weather forecast says

The current state of the weather at Leeds does not paint a promising picture. With a maximum temperature of 19°C expected to be predicted, the sky above will remain gloomy throughout the day with an estimated 25% chance of rain. However, experts do suggest that the weather is expected to clear up as the day progresses, and are hopeful of the fact that no time will be lost to rain.

Day five prognostication. Soggy start, but clearing up … ish? #EngvInd pic.twitter.com/fXNqRCoGtu
— Andrew Miller (@miller_cricket) June 24, 2025

This is not the first instance of the rain threat looming large in this Test match. Previously, on day one, the proceedings came to a halt due to a nearly one-hour-long rain delay. For the rest of the days, it has continued to be quite overcast with the sun occasionally peaking out. India will certainly not mind operating under the cloud cover. Bumrah will be by far the biggest threat for England to contend with. But the home side will not be fazed by the conditions one bit as they have built a solid reputation of gunning down big scores in recent times.
