The initial of Shubman Gill as the vice-captain of the T20I captain did not turn out to be a brilliant account, as he departed cheaply against Saim Ayub.

The Pakistan all-rounder caught Gill outside off the popping crease, and the rest of the work was swiftly accomplished by the Pakistan keeper Mohammad Haris. India lost the important wicket quickly while chasing a modest target of 128 in 20 overs. Gill departed after making only 10 runs in 7 overs with 2 boundaries. Ayub was unimpressive with the bat but earned his team the required breakthrough in form for Shubman Gill, who opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma. Might be the extra flight on the ball tricked him. The right-handed batter went outside of the line to make a connection with the ball.

He stretched but it was not enough to make contact. The turning away from him went on to the gloves of Haris. Who, without wasting any time, dismantled the stumps with the ball and cleaned the path for Gill to return to the dugout. The quick wicket of the in-form batter was unexpected for Indian cricket fans, but the Men in Blue recovered from the early blow.

India sustained an early blow 

Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss, and they managed to register only 127 runs on the scoreboard in exchange for 9 slaps. Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the destroyer for Team India, the scoreboard in exchange for 9 slaps. Yadav concluded his 4-over spell with 3 wickets against 18 runs. Against the UAE, the experienced spinner bagged a 4-wicket figure.

But for Gill, he remained without a half century from 5 T20Is. He registered his last half-century in the format against Zimbabwe in July last year.
