India’s star all-rounder of the game across formats, Ravindra Jadeja, who isn’t part of the national side’s three-match ODI series against Australia down under, will turn out for the Saurashtra side in their second round match of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 against Madhya Pradesh at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, which starts on Friday, October 24.

The veteran was dropped from the ongoing three-match 50-over series. Since the last season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear to the players that they must feature for their state teams in domestic cricket as long as they remain in contact with the national team or India A.

Jadeja has always turned out for Saurashtra in the red-ball domestic season. Last season, the veteran left-arm spinner took 12 wickets in the two Ranji Trophy games with the best figures of 7/38. Overall, he has taken a staggering 569 scalps at an impressive average of 24.20 and has notched up 8143 runs at 45.49 with 14 centuries and two triple hundreds.

With the selectors trying their young left-arm spinners like Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar in the India A games against the Proteas, Jadeja will look to get the best of the practice ahead of the two-match series against the Rainbow Nation, which begins in the middle of November and will be played in Kolkata and Guwahati.

“He informed us that he will play for Saurashtra in this round of the Ranji Trophy. He has always been keen to play for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.” The president of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA), Jaydev Shah, expressed during a recent interaction on the Times of India (TOI).

The veteran all-rounder smashed a fine century of 104* against the West Indies during the opening Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for their innings and 140-run victory, along with fine figures of 4/54 in the second innings. Jadeja was surprised, though, for not getting picked in the 50-over series.
