India is scheduled for travel to Bangladesh for a multi-format tour in August 2025, which is now looking uncertain due to some provocative remarks made by a former Bangladeshi army officer, who served as Major General (retired) and is now close to the current interim government of Bangladesh, ALM Fazlur Rahman.

India's tour to Bangladesh is still on the cards, but current circumstances can force the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to think in the opposite direction, suggested by a recently published media report. For now, the schedule remains the same as it was before. According to the calendar, India will tour Bangladesh to play three T20Is and three ODIs.

"The tour is part of the calendar, but nothing is final yet. There is a bright possibility of India not touring Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is because of the current situation," a source claimed to the media.

Amid the latest tension between India and Pakistan, the former Bangladeshi army officer had passed controversial remarks. Rahman threatened to occupy seven northeastern Indian states if India were to engage in conflict with Pakistan.

He said on a social media post, "If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy seven states of Northeast India. In this regard, I think it is necessary to start a discussion on a joint military system with China."
