After the resumption of the IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians is set to play their first match on May 21 against Delhi. On May 26, Hardik Pandya’s team will face Punjab Kings. The 5-time IPL-winning team will not get services from 3 overseas players if they qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) confident about their spot in the IPL 2025 play-offs. Though, their fate can be decided after the crucial match against Delhi Capitals (DC). MI and DC, both teams are pushing hard for the last spot of the round of four. Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, and Corbin Bosch will leave the MI camp to join their respective national camps. As per reports, Mumbai Indians has already confirmed three replacements on a short-time contract. Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Charith Asalanka are set to replace Jacks, Rickelton, and Bosch.

Rickelton has been a key player for Mumbai Indians, the second-highest run-getter (336 runs in 12 innings) of the team behind Suyrakumar Yadav. Jacks, with his all-around abilities, proved his brilliance by claiming 5 wickets with his offbreaks and bagging 195 runs with the bat in 11 games.

Who are replacement players for MI?

Bairstow, the England wicketkeeper-batter, got a lucrative deal from MI worth INR 5.25 Cr. For Gleeson, the Mumbai-based franchise spent INR 1 Cr and INR 75L for Sri Lanka’s white-ball captain Charith Asalanka, who had never played Indian Premier League before.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bairstow, who last played his international match for England in June 2024, will perform in the Blue and Gold, if he gets the chance.
