Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets in a nail-biting match in IPL 2025. The game was played in front of a buzzing crowd at the venue and both teams showcased their batting prowess in and made it a high-scoring match. CSK made 187/8 in their 20 overs, and Royals made 188/4 in 17.1 overs.

CSK’s innings was energised by a flurry of shots from Ayush Mhatre, who scored 43 runs off just 20 balls and Dewald Brevis (42 runs off 25 balls). Shivam Dube chipped in with a measured innings of 39 runs off of 32 balls. Even though CSK started with a flourish IIT, momentum evaporated for CSK in the last overs, due to tight bowling from Akash Madhwal (3 wickets for 29 runs) and Yudhvir Singh (3 wickets for 47 runs). Wanindu Hasaranga chipped in with a vital wicket at a favourable economy. 

Rajasthan Royals Innings

The Royals’ chase was led with a sparkling knock from Vaibhav Suryavanshi who clobbered an impressive innings of 57 runs off 33 balls. He was well supported by captain Sanju Samson (41 runs off 31 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 off 19) who kept the scoreboard ticking with aggressive shots. While CSK bowlers, particularly Ashwin (2 wickets for 41 runs) and Anshul Kamboj (1 wicket for 21 runs) tried to stem the flow of runs, the Royals' top order proved too strong and wrapped up the match comfortably.

Sanju Samson (Captain of Rajasthan Royals): Samson said he could not have been happier with the win. He revealed that he made the decision to chase very late. He acknowledged the young bowling unit and Akash Madhwal's improvement with Shane Bond as a good example of hard work. He said the team needs reflection after a disappointing season filled with close losses. He also praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi on his temperament and adaptability. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rajasthan Royals): Jaiswal relished his time at the crease and found the win as a boost for the team's confidence. He praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi's maturity after the powerplay and complimented RR bowlers for executing the plans well when the pressure was on.

MS Dhoni (Captain of Chennai Super Kings): Dhoni felt that the team posted a good score, but they suffered from losing quick wickets. He praised Dewald Brevis's innings, and complimented Anshul Kamboj for his control and seam movement. He reminded young cricketers to learn instead of focusing on high strike rates.
