Jammu and Kashmir to get special gift

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Devajit Saikia, has revealed in a recent interaction that Jammu and Kashmir would get a new international stadium after they claimed their history title during the 2025/26 season of the Ranji Trophy, by earning the first-innings lead against Karnataka in the drawn fixture. 

The BCCI secretary has indicated that the role of the BCCI has always been to develop cricket in all parts of India and revealed that J&K has always deserved an international stadium and facilities around the city.

“It is a momentous occasion for Indian cricket as well as for the cricket of Jammu & Kashmir. It was a big moment because a lot came out of it. Every place and every state of the country is a stronghold of cricket nowadays under the patronage of the BCCI. It is very important to note that there is no such infrastructure in J&K from where they can host international matches.” The BCCI secretary expressed.

Devajit Saikia sheds light on new stadium in Jammu and Kashmir

Auqib Nabi, the J&K bowler, finished the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 season as the leading wicket-taker with 60 scalps in 17 innings at an average of 12.56 and a strike rate of 28.43 and an economy rate of 2.65, with seven five-wicket hauls, three of which came in successive games in the quarter-final, semi-final, and final.

“The time has come now. With their performance, they have given us the roadmap. They have indicated that the BCCI should take a major step for the development of cricket in J&K, especially in the area of infrastructure development. We are already working on indoor cricket facilities in J&K. It is in the pipeline.” Saikia shed light.

“Auqib Nabi has played very well. His contribution has been major to the success of the team. He took five wickets in the quarter-final, five wickets in the semi-final, and left nothing in the final. His spell changed the final. So, everybody is taking note of it.” The BCCI secretary informed.
