Jasprit Bumrah again struck at the right moment. When the opening pair of South Africa (IN was looking about to roll on for a three-digit partnership, Bumrah delivered in style.

Ryan Rickelton was clean bowled. Just a hint of swing, and the ball beat the bat to hit the timbers. The left-handed batter went all wrong against the ball, missed the line and the length completely, and bowled out. Bumrah drew the first blood on Day 1 of the India vs. South Africa 1st Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

As it was reported, the surface of Eden Gardens has a thin surface of grass. But the cracks of the pitch, from the very first over of the match, puzzled both batting and fielding sides. After winning the toss, South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma chose to bat first. For them, the wicket seemed dry. But for India skipper Shubman Gill, it is a good wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah clean bowled Ryan Rickelton 

On a pleasant morning in Kolkata, the bowling team, which is team India, had the extra advantage with the new ball in hand. From the first over, openers had to deal with uneven bounces; some deliveries carried over the shoulder height to the wicketkeeper, and some maintained a very low bounce.

The delivery, which knocked down the stumps of Rickelton, was an example of pure class from Jasprit Bumrah. He hit the ball on the good length area, with a hint of outswing, moving away from the left-handed batter. Rickelton tried to block the ball, but he was completely on the wrong line. Without facing any barrier, the red ball dismantled the off stump. Ryan Rickelton had to depart for 23 off 22. South Africa lost their first man for 57 on the scoreboard.
