Bangladesh captain Litton Das said he was very disappointed to miss the important Asia Cup Super Four matches against India and Pakistan due to a side strain injury. The wicketkeeper-batter could not play in the last two games, both of which Bangladesh lost.

Speaking to the media after returning home, Litton said missing such big matches was very frustrating. “I really wish I could have played. The India and Pakistan games are always important in the Asia Cup. Since childhood, we know these matches are very special. Not playing against these top teams on such a big stage was disappointing. It would have been a great experience,” Litton said.

Bangladesh Struggled Without Litton

The absence of captain Litton Das clearly affected Bangladesh, as the team struggled without their in-form opener and leader. Litton accepted the defeats but said off-days are normal in cricket.

“Sometimes teams just don’t click on a day. Overall, we played good cricket before the Asia Cup and in the early matches. Against India, we played well but couldn’t handle their spin. Against Pakistan, we thought we could chase the target, but as batters we failed. That happens in cricket,” he said.

Recovery and Future Focus

Looking ahead, Litton said recovery is now his main focus. “You can’t assume anything in cricket. Performing on a big stage boosts confidence, but right now I need to recover well. The next series will be tough,” he added.

With Litton out, Jaker Ali Anik led Bangladesh in the remaining Asia Cup matches and will captain in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah. Litton praised Jaker’s efforts. “Jaker did really well even though he doesn’t usually captain. Taking charge against India and Pakistan is never easy, but he handled it well. Hopefully, he will do even better in the Afghanistan series,” he said.

Experience Matters

Litton also stressed the need to stick with experienced players before the ICC T20 World Cup. “On the big stage, both experience and performance matter. Regular players find it easier to deliver. New players will come in, but at World Cups, having experienced players in the squad is very important,” he explained.

Message to Fans

Finally, Litton had a message for fans. “We know we haven’t always made you happy, but we have worked hard and tried our best. Hopefully, we can make up for it in the coming matches,” he said.
