Prince Yadav in IPL 2025

Prince Yadav, sharing his name with a Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star, impressed with a fine batting display ahead of the IPL 2026 auction in the Uttar Pradesh Premier League 2025. Representing Gaur Gorakhpur Lions, the 27-year-old smashed 49 runs off just 29 deliveries against Kashi Rudras in Lucknow. His innings featured four boundaries and four sixes, with 40 of his runs coming in fours and maximums. Despite his heroics, Prince’s innings could not prevent his side from slipping to a heavy defeat in the contest.

Earlier in the match, Kashi Rudras elected to bat first after winning the toss and posted a competitive 176/8. They were in deep trouble at 89/7, but Indian pacer Shivam Mavi produced a sensational counterattack. Mavi struck a blistering 54 off just 21 balls, rescuing his side with a barrage of boundaries. His powerful knock shifted the momentum, allowing Rudras to recover and set a strong total. The innings gave them a firm platform, despite their early batting collapse in the league stage encounter.

Chasing 177, Gaur Gorakhpur Lions faltered early, slipping to 45/5 within 10 overs. Prince Yadav then entered the crease and tried to rebuild with an attacking approach, but wickets kept tumbling around him. He fought hard, eventually dismissed in the 19th over for 49, leaving his team struggling at 126/8. The Lions’ innings ended soon after, bowled out for 126 in 19.1 overs. Despite Prince’s valiant effort, the lack of support from teammates sealed a 50-run victory for Kashi Rudras.

Prince Yadav had roller coaster outing in IPL 2025

The Prince Yadav who featured for Gaur Gorakhpur Lions in the Uttar Pradesh Premier League is a 27-year-old right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batter. He has not yet played in the IPL but has represented Uttar Pradesh in eight first-class matches. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants’ Prince Yadav, bought at his base price of INR 30 lakh during the IPL 2025 mega auction, is a 23-year-old bowler who also bowls right-arm. He made his IPL debut against Delhi Capitals but went wicketless, conceding 47 runs.

In his debut IPL season, the younger Prince Yadav represented Lucknow Super Giants across six matches, where he claimed just three wickets at a high economy rate of 9.85. Despite his efforts, LSG, led by Rishabh Pant, endured an underwhelming campaign, finishing seventh on the table with 12 points and missing out on playoff qualification. Outside the IPL, the 23-year-old has also played for New Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), further showcasing his potential in domestic T20 competitions.
