The IPL 2025 Dharamsala match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals has been called off in the middle of the first innings after a significant power outage at the stadium on Thursday night (May 8). Here, we have come up with an update after the match was called off.

After the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals (PBKS vs DC) match was officially called off at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, the stadium was evacuated citing security concerns.

Soon after the PBKS vs DC match was called off, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly claimed that the call on IPL 2025 would be taken tomorrow. Meanwhile, the board is also reportedly set to make a special train arrangement to evacuate players, support staff and broadcast crew.

Earlier in the day, the May 11 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians had been shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad, which will be an afternoon fixture.

Why was Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match called off?

Despite the rain delay and wet outfield, which forced an hour delay start, the 58th IPL 2025 match started without any over reduction as the hosts Punjab Kings chose to bat first after winning the toss in Dharamsala. When PBKS were batting at 122/1 in 10.1 overs, as they were approaching the 200-run target strongly, the game was stopped due to a significant power outage at the stadium.

The BCCI officially stated, "Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees."

The present India-Pakistan border situation is very tense, while Jammu city experienced a major blackout after hearing loud explosions on Thursday night. The Dharamsala cricket stadium is about 200km away from the tense situation.
