The second innings of the IND-W vs PAK-W clash during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was full of controversy. Muneeba Ali, wrapped on the pads, kept the bat on the ground but lifted later when Deepti Sharma made a direct throw as the umpires ruled the batter out. It led to the captain, Fatima Sana, crying at the boundary line.

“Muneeba's run-out issue has already been settled, I believe. I'd rather not discuss it further at this time. Whatever happened and whatever the situation was, I think it has been resolved.” In the post-match press conference, Pakistan pacer, Diana Baig, revealed that, as the ICC 30.1.1 states- “A batter shall be considered to be out of his/her ground unless some part of his/her person or bat is grounded behind the popping crease at that end.”

The Law 30.1.2 has also added- “However, a batter shall not be considered to be out of his/her ground if, in running or diving towards his/her ground and beyond, and having grounded some part of his/her person or bat beyond the popping crease, there is subsequent loss of contact between the ground and any part of his/her person or bat, or between the bat and person.”

On the other hand, India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, lauded their all-round performance after their dominating 88-run win as it was India’s 12th consecutive win over the Pakistan side in men’s and women’s cricket.

“Very happy, important win. Our bowling was great, and Kranti was outstanding. Renuka helped her. We created so many chances, dropped some. But the win makes us happy. It wasn't easy to bat on; we wanted to bat long and see how much we got.” Harmanpreet Kaur expressed during the press conference.

“It's been raining, and there was a hold on the pitch. We wanted to keep wickets in hand; Richa then gave us 30 crucial runs. Just want to go with the momentum when we go back to India. We know how the pitches are there, hope to work our combinations.” The Indian captain concluded.
