Batting first, SFU posted 176/8 in their full complement of 20 overs, with Romario Shepherd smashing the Unicorns lead with a brisk 56 runs from 31 balls and relying on a steady 52 runs from skipper Matthew Short. Jake Fraser-McGurk chipped in with a quick 34. Seattle's bowlers had some success—Harmeet Singh and Gerald Coetzee both picked up 3-wicket hauls but were unable to stem the run flow.
