Pakistan's Mohammad Amir mocks India captain Suryakumar Yadav as India experienced a massive defeat against South Africa on February 22 in Ahmedabad. The Pakistan star stated that India lost their opening match of the Super 8, because of faulty leadership.

On February 22, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, South Africa defeated India by a huge margin of 76 runs. It was an unexpected result for Team India and the entire Indian cricket fan community, as the Men in Blue, the defending champions in the T20 World Cup 2026, are arguably the most favored to win the title for the second consecutive campaign.

Mohammad Amir took the moment to criticize their arch-rivals, India. Mohammad Amir, the 33-year-old Pakistani pacer raised questions over Suryakumar Yadav's leadership. Amir suggested that Yadav utilise proper bowlers to win crucial matches.

Suggestion from Mohammad Amir to Suryakumar Yadav

"Yesterday, his captaincy got exposed. The team was under pressure and confused. Using part-timers instead of main bowlers was a poor decision, your main bowlers have to deliver. Part-timers can’t save you", Mohammad Amir said during a live discussion.

When South Africa went to bat first after winning the toss, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh did not take too long to accomplish their jobs. Inside the powerplay, South Africa lost their 3 major wickets in the form of Quinton de Kock, captain Aiden Markram, and Ryan Rickelton.

It was the middle-order batters, precisely Dewald Brevis, David Miller, and Tristan Stubbs, who helped the team to get back into the contest. Mainly because of these three batters, the Proteas were able to register 187/7 in 20 overs.

Apart from Bumrah and Singh, most of the Indian bowlers like Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Hardik Pandya faced difficulties against South Africa. India bundled for only 111 in 18.5 overs, and South Africa won the match by 76 runs.
