Amid the split captaincy possibilities ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, a recent report regarding India's T20I leadership roles has emerged. Though publicly the current medical status of Surykumar Yadav is yet to come, it is highly believed that the middle-order batter is all set to lead the team in T20Is.

If Suryakumar remains as the captain of India's T20I setup, who'll be his deputy? For the past few days the question has been floating around corners of social media platforms. As per the latest claims, Shubman Gill can get another major role after leading the team from the front against England during the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, where the men in the Blue brigade level the 5-match Test series 2-2 in a heroic fashion.

If the latest claims are to be believed, then Gill can be the deputy of Yadav in the shorter format of the game. With the captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill, Team India can start their campaign in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. After the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the Tests, just before the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy, Team India suddenly entered into a phase of transition in the longest format of cricket.

Why Gill can get the role of Yadav's deputy? 

If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) positions Gill as the vice-captain of the T20I side, the intention from the board will be understandable—a phase of transition with proper pre-planning. Though the official statement regarding this is yet to come.

Yadav has recently started his batting in nets after a surgery, and Gill is fit and fine and in fiery form. As per previous reports, the final squad for the Asia Cup 2025 can be announced after receiving the cricketer's final medical updates.
