New Zealand and the West Indies continued their T20I series by playing the third match. The two teams faced each other at Saxton Oval, Nelson, on November 9. New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first.

The innings started with Devon Conway and Tim Robinson scoring 56 and 23 runs, respectively. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell added 26 and 41 runs, respectively. After the top-order contributions, the middle and lower orders could not perform well and fell under the pressure of the West Indies’ bowling.

New Zealand scored 177 runs in the first innings. For the West Indies, Jason Holder and Matthew Forde took two wickets each. Romario Shepherd and Shamar Springer took one wicket each.

Romario Shepherd’s Knock Goes in Vain as New Zealand Wins

Aiming to chase the target, the West Indies got off to a poor start as opener Amir Jangoo scored only five runs. Alick Athanaze added 31 runs, and Ackeem Auguste scored 24. Skipper Shai Hope left after scoring just one run.

New Zealand kept the pressure on and did not let the middle order score big. Romario Shepherd and Shamar Springer tried to fight back. Shepherd scored 49 runs off 32 balls, and Springer added 39 runs.

The West Indies came close, but Shepherd’s dismissal slowed them down. They were limited to 168 runs, and New Zealand won the match by nine runs, taking the lead in the series. The fourth T20 is also in Nelson on Monday.
