During the second innings, Shami and Bumrah surprisingly scored an unbeaten 56 and an unbeaten 34 runs, respectively, and helped India to take the lead of 271 runs, which England was unable to get. They bundled for only 120 while chasing the target, and India got a stunning victory at the iconic ground.

About the win, the captain of India, Virat Kohli, said, "Super proud of the whole team; the way we stuck to our plans and being out in our performance with the bat was outstanding... the way we played in the second innings, under pressure, from Jasprit and Shami was outstanding."
