Premier League giants Manchester United’s defender Harry Maguire shared a light-hearted moment with Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj during a fun cricket interaction. The memorable exchange took place on Sunday, July 20, when the Indian men’s cricket team met Manchester United’s players and staff ahead of the fourth Test against England.

One of the standout moments of the meet-up was Maguire posting a picture of himself with a bat in hand, batting against Siraj in a delivery. The England international posted the image in his Instagram stories with a cheeky caption: “I’m just happy it was a tennis ball.” The moment quickly went viral among fans of both sports.

Manchester United, who just played a scoreless draw against Leeds United in a pre-season match at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden on July 19, seemed to appreciate the friendly crossover. In the meantime, Shubman Gill and his squad are gearing up for the fourth Test of the England-India series, set to begin on Wednesday, July 23, at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Siraj continues to shine with the ball amid injury concerns

Mohammed Siraj is the leading wicket-taker in the ENG-IND 2025 Test series, where he grabbed 13 wickets in three Tests at an average of 32.00 and a strike rate of 50.30, including a five-wicket haul. Overall, the pacer has taken 113 wickets from 39 Tests, averaging 30.88 with four five-fors to his name.

India, however, is grappling with injury concerns ahead of the fourth Test. Arshdeep Singh hurt his bowling hand during training, while Akash Deep is nursing a groin issue. Adding to the woes, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy injured himself during a gym mobility session and is likely to miss the remainder of the series. Siraj’s fitness and form will be crucial as India aims to level the series.
