Meet Rachin, the 21-year-old Cricketer, interestingly whose name is a combination of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar

One name that has attracted everyone’s attention as India play the first match of their three-match T20I series against New Zealand in Jaipur is Rachin Ravindra.

Despite not being able to make much noise with the bat in Jaipur, the Kiwi cricketer did garner attention off the field thanks to his unusual name. ‘Rachin’, the first name of the 21-year-old Indian-origin lad, drew everyone’s attention because it carries a special meaning. Rahul Dravid, the new coach of the Indian team, will be pleased to learn that the BlackCap cricketer is part of that team. The name is apparently a combination of ‘Ra’ for Rahul and ‘chin’ for Sachin Tendulkar.

The lad has represented New Zealand at the 2016 U19 World Cup and 2018 U19 Cricket World Cup. In his off-seasons, he also plays cricket in India.During the practice matches for the New Zealand A cricket team, he made his List A debut against Pakistan in November 2020. He was also a member of the New Zealand side that competed in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in England in June against India.

In September 2021, he made his international debut against Bangladesh in a five-match T20I series, which New Zealand eventually lost 2-3.
