Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant slammed a half-century in style. The skipper of the Delhi cricket team performed with his trademark swashbuckling batting style to register a well-deserved fifty. He completed the half century by smashing a huge six against the prolific Gujarat spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Pant has had some tough times in the recent past with Team India. His batting style in Test matches was heavily criticized by some cricket experts.

From today's Delhi vs Gujarat Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 (VHT 2025-26) match, it was clear that, despite criticisms, the keeper-batter is not going to change his batting style. Pant in total scored 70 runs against 79 deliveries, powered by 8 boundaries and a couple of over-boundaries. It is worth it to note that the pitch is at the BCCI Centre of Excellence ground in Singahalli.

Virat Kohli also played a swift 77-run knock against 61 deliveries and claimed the Man of the Match award as well. Virat's innings was decorated with thirteen 4s and one 6. With two half-centuries, Delhi registered 254/9 in 50 overs in the first innings.

Gujarat started the run chase in a promising way but lost the momentum in a quick time during the middle of the second innings. From 121/2 in 24.6 overs to 247/10 in 47.4 overs, Gujarat lost their remaining 8 wickets for only 126 runs. Delhi won their second match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy by 7 runs. For the crucial win, along with Virat, Pant, and other batters, the bowlers of Delhi also deserve credit.

On December 29, Delhi will face Saurashtra for their third match of the tournament.
