Rising Indian all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has unveiled her dream T20 XI, assembling a mix of legends from the sport's past along with some of the best players in contemporary men's and women's cricket. Her team demonstrates her even-handed appreciation of some of the great iconic names in the sport while also acknowledging a few players that has inspired her in her journey in the game with the shortest format.

She has started her team with an explosive opening pair that any cricket fan would recognize: Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle. They have both represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and have played some spectacular innings over the years. Gayle, known as "The Universe Boss," is the leading T20 run scorer with 14,562 runs, while Kohli's 13,543 runs represent his incredible consistency, along with the ability to adapt to formats.

Patil reveals her best T20 playing XI

AB de Villiers occupies the No. 3 spot, a position that is arguably the most important position in T20 cricket. De Villiers is a legend, and with his inventive stroke play and over 9,000 runs in T20, there was no other man for the spot. At No. 4, India's women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been recognized by Patil. Kaur is a master at anchoring an innings and being able to shift gears at will, and is a key player for India. In at No. 5, Australian all-rounder Grace Harris is known for her destructive batting in the Women’s Big Bash League.

At No. 6 is Chinelle Henry from the West Indies, who can offer balance with her all-round ability. Finally, Patil slotted herself in at No. 7, an impressive move on Patil's part, as she just exhibited supreme form in the Women’s Premier League, where she took 19 wickets in just 15 games, and continued to have consistent success for India.

To fill the lower order, Patil has opted for a combination of spin, pace, and power. With Sophie Molineux as the Australian left-arm-spinner providing control and guile, Andre Russell in as the modern T20 powerhouse providing explosive finishing and medium pace to a balanced bowling lineup; and India’s own Jasprit Bumrah and the amazing newer talent in Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, comfortably two of the best bowlers ever in the modern game of T20, in as skilled pace and spin options, why not. 

Patil’s dream XI has a great mix of aggressive batters, quality bowlers, and world-class all-rounders, and a combination that would surely be the envy of any side.
