India’s batting star Smriti Mandhana has finally returned to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, taking back the No.1 spot for the first time since 2019. The latest update from the ICC confirmed her return, ending a six-year-long wait. The rankings were released on Tuesday, where Mandhana’s strong performance was clearly visible.

Indian women's opener Smriti Mandhana has received a big boost in the latest ICC rankings released on Tuesday. She has once again become the number 1 ODI batter in the world. Mandhana reached the top position after South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, lost 19 rating points. Mandhana now holds the first place with 727 rating points.

Smriti Mandhana is currently in great form. She performed brilliantly in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa in Colombo and scored a century in the final match.

Mandhana has returned to the number 1 spot after 6 years. Although she stayed in the top 10 in recent years, she had not reached the top position since early 2019. Now, after six years, she has made her way back to number 1.

The Indian opener has played 102 ODI matches for India so far. She has scored 4473 runs at an average of 46.59 and a strike rate of 87.79. She has also scored 11 centuries and 31 half-centuries in her ODI career.

As a result of these changes, Wolvaardt is now in joint second place with England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt. Other changes in the rankings include South Africa’s Tazmin Brits, who moved up five spots to 27th, and Sune Luus, who climbed seven places to 42nd. Some West Indies players have also improved in the rankings. Shemaine Campbelle moved up seven spots to 62nd, and Qiana Joseph jumped 12 places to 67th.

Among the bowlers, England's Sophie Ecclestone is at the top, followed by the Australian pair Ash Gardner and Megan Schutt. India's Deepti Sharma and Australia's Kim Garth complete the top five.
