Southern Brave Women claimed victory over Birmingham Phoenix Women

Match 7 of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2025 turned out to be an exciting battle as Southern Brave Women beat Birmingham Phoenix Women by 15 runs at Southampton. Batting first, Southern Brave lost Maia Bouchier early, but Wyatt-Hodge took control with a superb knock of 59 from 39 balls, hitting nine fours and a six. Laura Wolvaardt played a handy innings of 28 from 19 balls, and Sophie Devine added 27 from 25. Birmingham’s bowlers worked hard to keep things in check, with Megan Schutt taking 2 for 23 and Em Arlott picking up 2 for 20. Southern Brave finished their innings on 139 for 7 in 100 balls.

Birmingham Phoenix had a tough start to their chase, slipping to 22 for 3. Ellyse Perry and Sterre Kalis then gave them hope with a solid partnership. Perry made 26 from 21 balls, while Kalis was the top scorer with 44 from 34 deliveries. They kept the team in the game, but once the stand was broken, wickets started to fall quickly.

Southern Brave’s bowlers stayed calm under pressure and finished the job. Lauren Bell was the star, taking 3 for 17, and Sophie Devine backed her batting with 2 for 28. Birmingham were bowled out for 124 in the 99th ball, just short of the target. It was a well-earned win for Southern Brave, who showed great teamwork, while Birmingham Phoenix were left thinking about the chances they missed in both batting and bowling.
