In the fifth fixture of The Hundred 2025 between the Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals at the Kennington Oval in South London, both teams came with two different results. The home side came into the clash with a victory under their belt as they brought Saqib Mahmood into the playing XI in place of Jordan Clark.

Oval captain, Sam Billings, won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface that was expected to get better in the second innings. Manchester included George Garton in the side, replacing Farhan Ahmed.

Manchester Originals struggle to reach 128 in first innings

Apart from their captain Phil Salt, none of the batters batted well during the first innings of the game. Both Matthew Hurst and Jos Buttler returned with respective ducks before Mark Chapman drilled 28 runs in 19 balls. The lower-middle order didn’t contribute much with the bat, while Scott Currie smashed 21 runs in nine balls at a strike rate of 233.33.

They somehow managed to get 128 runs in 100 deliveries for the loss of 10 wickets. Rashid Khan showed his magic once again for the franchise as he returned with fine figures of 3/19 in 20 overs, while on the other hand, Jason Behrendroff, Sam Curran, and Saqib Mahmood returned with two wickets in the bag.

Oval Invincibles make comfortable chase by nine wickets

The 114-run opening partnership killed the chase at the top. Will Jacks nailed 61 runs in just 26 balls, scoring 10 boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 234.62, while Tawanda Muyeye remained unbeaten on 59 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 210.71, with the help of 10 boundaries and one six.

Jordan Cox just got seven runs in three balls to complete the chase as they have now topped the points table with two successive victories during The Hundred 2025.
