Trent Rockets Women put in a clinical all-round performance to beat Oval Invincibles Women by 6 wickets. The Trent Rockets bowlers were dominant, and the picks were Ashleigh Gardner (2/4) and Kirstie Gordon (2/8). In reply, Grace Scrivens' fluent 34 set the foundation for Jodi Grewcock (21* off 14) and Heather Graham (19* off 11) to finish the job with a score of 113/4 in just 84 balls.

Oval Invincibles Women Innings: 109/7 in 100 balls

Oval Invincibles were able to start steadily, but with some caution, losing an early wicket which needed Meg Lanning to try and rebuild. Lanning played a captain’s knock of 45 from 36 balls, rotating strike well and then slowly finding the boundary. Alice Capsey (18 off 15) tried to lift the run rate in the middle overs, but in losing wickets at regular intervals, they were undermined. Maia Bouchier contributed with 14 but other than Lanning, no batter was able to go past 20 runs. The Rockets’ bowler operated with great discipline on the day, with Ashleigh Gardner (2/4) and Kirstie Gordon (2/8) who managed to choke the run rate completely. Therefore Invincibles fell a long way short of what looked like a par score of 130+.

Batting Highlights:

  • Meg Lanning – 45 (36)
  • Alice Capsey – 18 (15)
  • Maia Bouchier – 14 (12)

Bowling Highlights:

  • Ashleigh Gardner – 2/4 (10)
  • Kirstie Gordon – 2/8 (15)
  • Heather Graham – 1/18 (15)

Trent Rockets Women Innings: 113/4 in 84 balls (Target: 110)

Chasing 110, the Rockets started well with the momentum going as Grace Scrivens struck some boundaries early on to keep the scoreboard ticking. The early loss of Lizelle Lee was not a concern as her 34 off 27 balls set them up effectively despite the early loss. Once the wickets started to fall the Rockets were never in trouble, as the ask was under control. Jodi Grewcock showed maturity beyond her years to score 21* off 14 balls, while Heather Graham (19* off 11) sealed the chase with a few boundaries in the final over. A sensible approach meant that the Rockets completed their chase with 16 balls to spare and more momentum heading into the tournament proper.

Batting Highlights:

  • Grace Scrivens - 34 (27)
  • Jodi Grewcock - 21* (14)
  • Heather Graham - 19* (11)

Bowling Highlights:

  • Sophia Smale - 2/20 (20)
  • Marizanne Kapp - 1/24 (20)
  • Eva Gray - 1/15 (15)
