Oval Invincibles Women were beaten by 8 wickets by London Spirit Women in the 29th match of The Hundred Women's 2025. Invincibles could only accumulate 108/8 with the bat, with Marizanne Kapp (32), Paige Scholfield (22), and Meg Lanning (19) being the main scorers. It was a very easy run chase for London Spirit as they reached 112/2 in 62 balls, after a superb knock from Kira Chathli. The margin of the result was indicative of the difference in execution and determination between the two sides. Below are the main reasons for the Oval Invincibles Women defeat.

1. Weak batting performance

Oval Invincibles could never form any meaningful partnerships as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, with Kapp (32 off 25), Scholfield (22 off 21) and Lanning (19 off 20) making the only meaningful scores. Perhaps with no help from some of the batsmen, the total of 108/8 was well short of par.

2. Spirit’s bowling dominance

The London Spirit bowlers never relented, able to build pressure continually and take wickets at telling moments. Charlotte Dean was the pick of the bowlers with 2/12, and Eva Gray picked up 2/12 in her spell. The bowlers executed their plans and ensured the Invincibles couldn't score freely, putting them continually on the back foot.

3. Confident chase from Spirit

London Spirit’s top order ensured there were no hiccups in the chase. Kira Chathli smashed 53 from 29 balls, supported well by Georgia Redmayne with 42 from 30. Their aggressive intent saw the team cruise home in just 62 balls, highlighting the gulf in confidence.
